The PE and sport programmes at Al Yasmina are an integral part of the school experience and are considered vital to a student's development. Students are involved in sport at a recreational level, in school competitions, inter school sport tournaments and international tours.
PE students follow the National Curriculum of England and Wales from Foundation stage through to Year 11. At KS4 students follow the Edexcel GCSE course and at KS5 we offer diploma and subsidiary BTEC Sport at level 3.
All pupils have two hours of PE a week which is taught by a specialist teacher. More than 60 per cent of Year 10 students every year take part in the UK accredited Sports Leadership award. Special provisions are in place for the school's gifted and talented athletes.
Lessons are taught in state of the art facilities which include two swimming pools, three Astroturf football pitches, outdoor netball and basketball courts, cricket nets, two sports halls and a dance studio. Students develop their skills and knowledge in a safe, engaging and fun environment. PE department staff believe in the development of the whole child and lessons always take into account both the mental and social benefits along with the physical benefits that regular physical activity can bring.
