Welcome to DramaKS3 Curriculum for only up to Year 11
Drama at Al Yasmina follows The Arts Council of England guidelines. We believe Drama alongside developing performance and acting techniques, also promotes confidence, skills in public speaking and the ability to explore a wide range of subjects and issues through the medium. Year 7 focuses on introducing and building on drama techniques and skills through schemes such as storytelling, introduces the students to the work of Shakespeare and develops creativity and imagination. Year 8 begins to introduce students to historical themes focusing on reliving and exploring the true events through the use of thought tracking, conscience corridors and role play. Year 9 involves developing skills to begin to use at GCSE whilst also exploring topical issue based work, pushing the student's debating skills and unbiased thought process. KS3 National Curriculum Descriptors
KS4 Curriculum for Years 10, 11KS4 drama follows the EdExcel GSCE exam board and comprises of 3 units. Unit 1- Drama Exploration-this is where we study and create drama from a theme/topic and explore and develop different skills and techniques to create innovative pieces of theatre. Unit 2 - Exploring Drama Texts –exploring and examining a play text in detail, looking at the characters and their motives, what the playwright intended the audience to feel, and how we can portray the play and its characters today. Unit 3 - This is the most exciting unit where we culminate all we have learnt through the course and devise a piece of theatre using all these skills from a choice of topics. We will also spend some time at the start of the course developing new skills and examining different plays to enable students to gain the best exam marks possible. |
