KS3 Curriculum for Year 7 to Year 12

header

In compliance with the UAE Federal Byelaws for private education, at Al Yasmina, Arabic is taught as a compulsory subject from Y1 to Y10.

Islamic Studies is also mandatory for Muslim students from Y1 to Y12.
Moreover, the Arab students have to study UAE Social Studies from Y1 to Y9 and non-Arabs from Y4 to Y9.

The curriculum and the textbooks are prescribed by the Ministry of Education which mainly aim at:

  • Keeping the local and other native Arabic speaking students familiar with their national identity, religion and social-culture heritage;
  • Providing the non-native, foreign students with the basic functional skills of the Arabic language that would help enhance mutual understanding, peaceful co-existence and cross-cultural harmony;
  • Providing students with an opportunity for broader academic and professional career development across the regions/job markets that require the knowledge of Arabic.

Within this framework, the Arabic lessons incorporate a wide range of innovative learning techniques including role plays, educational games, interactive ICT activities and songs and folk stories.

In addition to the prescribed textbooks, students both Arabs and the non-Arabs are given rigorous training and structured resources to help them communicate in Modern Standard Arabic (MSA).

To ensure students consistent progress, continuous and term-wise assessments take place in the key skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing.
