Welcome to ArabicKS3 Curriculum for Year 7 to Year 12
In compliance with the UAE Federal Byelaws for private education, at Al Yasmina, Arabic is taught as a compulsory subject from Y1 to Y10. Islamic Studies is also mandatory for Muslim students from Y1 to Y12. The curriculum and the textbooks are prescribed by the Ministry of Education which mainly aim at:
Within this framework, the Arabic lessons incorporate a wide range of innovative learning techniques including role plays, educational games, interactive ICT activities and songs and folk stories. In addition to the prescribed textbooks, students both Arabs and the non-Arabs are given rigorous training and structured resources to help them communicate in Modern Standard Arabic (MSA). To ensure students consistent progress, continuous and term-wise assessments take place in the key skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. KS3 National Curriculum Descriptors KS4 Curriculum for Years 10, 11Native Arabic speakers continue studying Arabic at KS4, as prescribed by the Ministry of Education, to be eligible for the UAE Secondary Equivalence Certificate (a pre-requisite for higher education in the UAE-based universities). For extra academic credential, they simultaneously join the non-native Arabic speakers who opt for GCSE Arabic as a 2nd language. The course, along with its wide range of sub-topics is a balanced combination of language and culture which, focuses on improving the 4 essential language skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing in MSA. It also develops better cultural understanding of the Arab people that subsequently creates greater opportunities for education and work among them. |
